We will design and construct pedestrian improvements on Witch Hazel Road, between 38th and 49th courts along the south side of roadway including installation of supplemental lighting on existing PGE poles.

This will complete a missing segment of sidewalk and provide students with a safe and an accessible route to nearby Witch Hazel Elementary School, South Meadow Middle School and Hillsboro High School.

Construction is expected to start in early 2025. Schedules are subject to change.

The estimated $1.2 million project is funded by the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program Opportunity Fund and an ODOT Safe Routes to Schools grant.

Safe Routes to Schools grants fund projects that make it safer and easier to walk to school. We applied for the grant for this project because of the potential benefit to the nearby community. This project also met the criteria for a reduced cash match from the County.
